Attorney Becker named a recipient of “Life Changer” award
PORTSMOUTH — Haven’s annual fall fundraiser, Ending Violence, Changing Lives, will be a virtual event on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The focus of the event is to come together to support survivors navigating to safer shores.
The event will be live-streamed from 3S Artspace from 6 to 7 p.m., with live music starting at 5:30 p.m. The event will be streamed on Youtube and Facebook on Haven’s account.
Haven is the largest domestic violence and sexual violence support and prevention agency in the Granite State, serving 48 communities in southeastern New Hampshire.
Community members can help Haven raise much-needed funds for the increasing number of families affected by violence and abuse.
Victims need help now more than ever. In the pandemic, “safe at home” is not safe for survivors quarantined with their abusers. Every day, Haven sees the need increasing while survivors are facing greater barriers than ever before.
This event will give you an inside look into how Haven is evolving to meet the needs of survivors throughout COVID-19. This year, Haven honors three “Life Changers” who embody the spirit of Haven’s mission to end violence and change lives. These individuals demonstrate how everyday people can help create extraordinary change for survivors of abuse in our community.
This year’s “Life Changers” are Haven volunteer Jane Torrey, DOVE (Domestic Violence Emergency Project) attorney Leif Becker, and detective Rochelle Jones of the Portsmouth Police Department.
There will be live music by local artists and an online auction for registered participants through 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30. VIP ticket holders who live within 25 miles from Portsmouth will receive a party pack of goodies and Haven swag to make the event even more special.
